Executive Director
Aids Community Care Montreal (Accm)
About the role
AIDS Community Care Montreal (ACCM) is Quebec's only HIV and sexual health community organization dedicated to serving English-speaking and allophone communities. Operating for 38 years on a volunteer-driven and community-led model, ACCM works to improve the quality of life of people living with or affected by HIV and hepatitis C, eliminate the stigma surrounding these infections, and prevent their transmission. Rooted firmly in the GIPA, MIPA and MEPA principles, the organization ensures the meaningful involvement of individuals living with HIV across all levels of decision-making. Through a holistic approach to well-being, ACCM delivers innovative education for prevention, compassionate peer support, treatment navigation, food security initiatives, and specialized programming tailored to diverse groups, including youth, newcomers, queer and trans individuals, and aging long-term survivors.
POSITION
Permanent, full-time, 35 hours per week. Monday to Thursday, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, plus three hours on Friday. Occasional evenings and weekends are required for events. The role reports to the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors.
Compensation is $36.00 per hour, equivalent to approximately $65,520 CAD per year. Benefits include a group health insurance plan, three weeks of paid vacation plus an additional two weeks of paid winter break, and paid sick days.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director holds overall strategic and operational responsibility for ACCM's staff, programming, financial health, and community impact. The Executive Director will champion the mission, drive organizational growth, and ensure the operational excellence necessary to support the communities ACCM serves.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic leadership and governance. Promote GIPA, MIPA and MEPA principles across all program development and strategic planning. Support a strong, active Board of Directors, providing regular updates on organizational health, environmental threats, and trends within the Canadian sexual health sector.
Financial management and fundraising. Lead fundraising initiatives to secure and expand unrestricted funding from individual donors, foundations, government, and corporate allies. Oversee organization-wide budgets, financial reconciliation, and internal controls to ensure long-term financial health. Ensure the timely, compliant submission of program and grant reports to funders and key stakeholders.
People and operations. Directly supervise, coach, and retain a high-performing management team, including two Program Managers and the administrative team. Oversee two managers who direct day-to-day organizational affairs, as well as four direct reports, ensuring a supportive, efficient working environment. Cultivate partnerships to advance collaborative initiatives rooted in anti-oppression, anti-stigma, and anti-racism.
IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE
A proven fundraiser with a track record of successfully growing unrestricted funding streams for small to medium charities, alongside strong grant-writing and networking skills.
Deep knowledge of non-profit management, strategic planning, and community development.
Strong familiarity with HIV, hepatitis C, STBBIs, GIPA principles, Montreal's queer and trans communities, harm reduction, and the social determinants of health.
An empathetic, collaborative approach to managing diverse teams and working with varied stakeholders, and readiness to act as a proud, visible ambassador for ACCM.
